How to be more thoughtful
Listen to others
Sometimes, giving someone your undivided attention can show a lot of thoughtfulness. It shows you care and you are concerned about them in some way. Listening to them carefully also means you pick up on those little bits of information which later down the line can be used in a gesture of kindness.
Show small acts of kindness
Small acts of kindness can bring so much joy to others. Such gestures do not need to be fancy. The smaller things that show you have considered someone’s requirements can be just as effective.
Give meaningful compliments
Compliments can be a great way of being thoughtful. Compliments become more valuable when they are done in a meaningful way. A compliment that shows you have thought about someone’s requirements, and goes a long way. And if you are giving a compliment, mean it. Not only can people sometimes see through a lack of genuineness, but it means so much to the other person when there is some real thought behind it. Note that thoughtfulness is more than just being nice.
Express gratitude
Do you express thankfulness often? When was the last time you thanked someone? Sending some form of thanks to friends and family for something you have acquired shows your appreciation and thoughtfulness.
Remember important dates
Although it is necessary to show thoughtfulness regularly, there are some important dates of the year which should be remembered as a priority too. If you are someone who forgets things easily, try and make a note of them somewhere you have easy access. These important dates might not just be the usual birthdays and weddings, but they might be the date of your friend’s first date or the date they are moving home. And with so much going on in our lives, it is nearly impossible to remember all these key events. But displaying you remember these important dates in other people’s lives, and you have taken the time to think of them, shows a real level of consideration.
Consider slowing down
When we rush around all the time, we often forget to reflect. And to be thoughtful demands peaceful times of reflection. It means you can take a step back and recognize what others may require. When you start to slow down, you can notice more, and take everything in the memory. This permits thoughtfulness to naturally present itself.
